Roger Bamber

What do we need to say about Roger Bamber that hasn’t been written elsewhere, a former
British Press Photographer of the Year and was twice News Photographer of the Year, he
went freelance in 1988 and indulged his passion for the broadest range of subject and
using natural light where possible. It is testamount to his skill and ease with his subject
matter that its easy to spot a Bamber when it appears in the press, and he has been
recognised in awards such as Nikon Features Photographer of the Year, Nikon Arts and
Entertainment Photograher of the Year, Ilford Press Photographer of the Year, and Kodak
Feature Photographer of the Year. He is an ambassador for his hometown Brighton and
has covered every event this town has to offer. In 2007 Roger presented us with our most
ambitious exhibition, a dig through his outstanding archive, images from the Falklands,
Live Aid, the Old Bailey Bombing, many of the events or characters that have shaped our
country. Roger continues to be published in the daily papers and picks his subjects to
reflect his vast personal interests.
