KAREN NEAL – Pagan Pixels (Comp Finalist 2006)
Exhibition June 28th –Aug 14th 2007
Karen’s 2006 competition entry laid the foundations of her 2007 exhibition.
‘Pagan Pixels’ is an exhibition of found thing’s , but this time found items in the city streets are replaced by items taken from the woods where Karen now lives.
Elements of experimentation permeate the exhibition stemming from the same technique used in the competition entry. Using a basic scanner Karen works with her found objects, which include insects, flowers, bones, this indiscriminate and naïve tool treats each and every part of the object with the same level of detachment or objectivity. Dragonflies and Hornets become intoxicating subjects whilst flower images are sublime against the rich velvet black, at once beautiful but also compelling.
Karen has also worked hard to ensure her prints have a vibrancy and has displayed several images on A2lightboxes, these are available to purchase, but please contact the gallery direct. All sizes of the prints are available.
